Ask your ISP if they provider a filter; it can help.

Install filtering software, or a browser with a mail client, such as
NetScape, that incorporates it. I get virtually no SPAM, and daily check
the TRASH just to be certain that nothing that is wanted has been
inadvertently filtered. The filters in NS Messenger can be configured
manually (as here) or will "learn" what to filter - over time.

The NetScape browser selectively blocks pop-ups/pop-unders/images/Flash
animation, etc. if properly configured. Visit
sfor help.
