Desperate!!!!

My only DC died what's worse is no back up but ERD and it
didn't work.

This is a windows problem.

I have exchange 2000 setup in the domain no with no DC no
exchange.

How can I rebuild??? If I take an old ghost image before
exchange 2000 was installed, how can I get exchange
running again, it's not touched. I also have ADC
connected too. Is there a way out???

I"m truly desperate!

Please help

Pretty much the only part of Exchange that doesn't live in
AD are your stores. So as long as you still have your
stores then regaining access to your mail isn't that hard.

If it were me I would follow this action plan:

save off your stores
manually uninstall Exchange (there's KB on this)
Install new DC (I would give it the same forest name)
run exchange setup /forestprep then /domainprep
Install exchange.(its gotta have the same org name)
Sp for Exchange
dismount stores
use adsi edit and modify the paths to your store edb's
stm's and log path to the old location
right click on each store in the esm check this store can
be overwritten by a restore
mount your stores
at this point you got your stores up but no users.
you can manally recreate your users then right click on
your stores in the esm run cleanup agent and reconnect the
mailboxes or you can use mbconn to recreate your users
accounts from the mailbox info too (there is a kb on this
too).

Then install a second dc so you don't have to deal with
this again :)
