Embedded .wav files only play once in PowerPoint 2007

I have a .wav sound file I have inserted into my draft PPT using the
following method:

Insert
Sound
Sound from Clip Organizer

The actual .wav sound file I chose is called "Deck the Halls 2" and it is
2707 KB. After the file is inserted, even after setting the custom
animation, the file will only play ONCE. Each time after that, it refuses to
play. I am not a novice using PowerPoint so this leaves me extremely
frustrated that this is happening. I know the process of changing the max
sound file size, looping until stopped, playing it automatically, hiding it
during show, etc., but for some reason and although this file is clearly
EMBEDDED into the PPT, it will only play the ONE time and never again unless
I delete it and re-insert it all over again (at which time it will still only
play that ONE time).

I have even copied the sound file into the same folder my presentation is in
just out of curiosity. It still refuses to play. Something is clearly
wrong. Can some one please help me rectify this problem? All help is
appreciated.

after you insert the wav go to custom animation. in the frame on the right,
where it has modify effect: right click the file and choose effect options.
from here you can tell it to play on all slides, or just choose the ones you
want.

Hi, dee.

Thanks for your response. However, custom animation is not the problem I am
having here. I have already done this 20 times. What I am saying is that it
will play one time, then the file disappears. The sound icon may be there,
but the sound won't play. You can't click nor right-click the sound icon to
make edits to it as it is no longer there. It only plays once after
insertion and that is it. This is a .wav file which is embedded and not
linked. This should not be happening.

I have been creating PPTs and PPSs for many years now. I can't ever recall
this particular issue happening unless the file was linked and the file size
had not been adjusted accordingly, or the custom animation had not been set
to run across all slides or a set number of slides. Neither of which are the
case here. This PPT has not left the original PC either.

do you happen to have SmartBoard software installed on this computer? I
know that caused my problem before. I had to close out the SmartBoard
program, then it would work.

Thanx, John. That seemd to work. I used Nero Wave Editor 4 to open and
resave the file. I compressed it a little more while I was at it. I guess
I'm going to have to use this method from here on out as there seems to be a
problem with all the sound files (.wav and .midi) that are inserted from
Microsoft's sound gallery because they are all doing this. Weird!

Thanx, again. (P.S., were you telling me NOT to e-mail you? lol)
