{embed Outlook.FileAttach} shows instead of icon for v-card

We have a W2K machine running Office 2002 SBE. Outlook
used to view a v-card as an icon when sending or receiving
a v-card. Now instead of the icon, the phrase
{embed Outlook.FileAttach} is in the body of the email. I
can right click the phrase and select 'Open' and the
v-card will open. If a v-card is recieved the phrase
appears in the body of the letter and the icon is in the
preview panel. The icon is active and the phrase is
dead. If the email is opened, all of the toolbars are
dead except for the 'X' for closing the email.

I have run a repair and updates for Office and they
completed successfully. The user could have changed some
view settings but they look normal to me.

This is machine specific, all other machines are OK.

Sounds like you might be viewing the message in Word Mail. Try Tools |
Options in Word (or a WordMail message) and on the View tab, clear the box
for "Field codesl."

The 'Field codes' box was and is unchecked. I agree that
it looks like a 'view' issue but I don't see anything
unusual. I tried all 4 types of 'View' normal, web, print
and outline. It is definately something with the settings.

Thank you

What happens if you press Alt+F9? Disabling WordMail for reading messages
would also be a likely solution.

I finally had an opportunity to try 'ALT+F9' and we ended up with the {embed
Outlook.FileAttach}
changing to a blank 'pic holder'. If you dbl click the holder, the v-card
opens up and is viewable but
when you close the v-card, the same blank holder is there with no icon or
filename. If you press Alt+F9
again, {embed Outlook.FileAttach} shows up again. When it is sent, the
person that receives it, can see the icon and filename.

Any more ideas?

Does it work OK if you turn off WordMail?
