emails showing in Inbox after running Rules

This is the first time using Outlook 2003. I have noticed that after setting
up and running my rules, the original email still shows in my Inbox but as
deleted. In the past, Outlook Rules would move the emails accordingly and
never show in the Inbox. Is there something I missed when setting up my
rules? For me, using Rules is important to keep my Inbox uncluttered.

Ordinarily, tems in the Inbox don't "show as deleted". Deleting an item
moves it from the Inbox top the Deleted Items folder. If by "show as
deleted" you mean that the items have a line through them, then you must be
using an IMAP account. This is the way items are deleted for IMAP: they get
marked as queued for deletion. They don't actually go away until you purge.
