emails/files not showing up

I am using Outlook 2007. I have several folders for catagorizing emails to
find information and attachments, and my emails almost all in those folders,
not kept in the inbox folder. I find the information I want by either
searching or clicking the folder to see tis contents.

Lately I have been having a lot of difficulty. My emails only show up about
half the time, seemingly randomly. Say I have a folder named "B321-A123", and
inside it an email with the subject "B321-A123 ingredients", and in that
email an attachment named "001_B321-A123_fruit.pdf" (a silly example, but
nonetheless). I want to find this attachment. I open the folder B321-A123 -
this file does not show up sometimes, even though I know it is in that
folder. I search for "A123" in the regular search box. Maybe I get some
results, but not the one I am looking for. This email doesn't show up. I
search for "001". I get several emails, some with attachments labelled
"001_B456-A456_veggies" or something, but for some reason my email that I am
searching for just doesn't show up.

This has been happening a lot. If I search again, with the same search
criteria, it will show up, sometimes. It seems to be random when it decides
to show up. This is not an acceptable situation when I need to find things
for work. Does anyone know why this is happening and can offer any help?

To clarify, are you using 'classic search' or Windows Desktop Search?

Classic search would be the one in Outlook in the upper right, correct? I'm
using the one in the upper right, above the 'instant search' which is not
enabled... Horizontally level with the "All Mail Items" or "Inbox" or title
of whatever folder you are looking at at the time.
