Email that ends up in sent folder is not delivered to recipients

How can it be that mail merged emails are not reaching their destinations?

I have checked my pop3 provider, repaired/reinstalled office 2003, made sure
that outlook is working correctly, and it is with single emails. It's just
that when I send a mail merge, to even just a few email addresses, they don't
arrive anywhere. They don't kick back to me and they don't get to the
addresses that I send them to.

Read my post in mailmerge and fax titled "Mail Merged emails lost in the
ether" to see what I've done so far to troubleshoot and then maybe someone in
this forum can help me figure this thing out.

I ran a new anitvirus program today that corrected a few things, but the
test batch was lost in that place that emails go when they don't go anywhere
just a few minutes ago.

Help will be appreciated!

Thanks for reading

If the messages are moving from Outbox to Sent Items, then, as far as Outlook
is concerned, they are being delivered. Outlook is handing them off to
whatever is next in line in the delivery chain. This "next in line" is either
your SMTP server or it's an antivirus scanner. If you scan outgoing messages,
uninstall your AV program and reinstall it without the mail scanning feature.

If you don't scan outgoing mail, then the problem is that your mail server
isn't delivering the messages to whatever system is next in line after it and
there's nothing you can do about that short of speaking with the people who
support that server.

In any case, it's not an Outlook problem.

I made a mistake: Read my post in mailmerge and fax titled "Merged emails in
office 2003 are not reaching their recipients" not "emails lost in the ether"
for what I've done so far to troubleshoot.

The antivirus is not checking the emails.

I am doing just what you suggest. I'm waiting on my webmail provider to tell
me what they find out. They are finally checking it out for me. It's good to
hear that the problem may have been narrowed down to the source of it. If
they come back with nothing, I will add an update in this thread and ask for
additional help.

Did I mention single emails work just fine through Outlook, but emails sent
from mail merge aren't working?

Thank you

You can enable diagnostic logging and absolutely verify that the SMTP server
accepted the messages from Outlook by examining the log. The Microsoft
Knowledgebase contains an article on how to enable the log and where to find
it. Search for "logging" after choosing "Outlook 2003" as the product.

Some mail providers impose a limit on how many messages can be sent within a
particular time interval (i.e., X number of messages per minute, for example).
This could explain why single messages are delivered but mail merged messages
aren't.
