email sent to a specific ISP delayed in error

I've used Outlook 2003 for years with no problems. Just recently, mail I
send to AOL addresses is delayed by at least a day. This does not happen
with other ISPs, only AOL; all the other email I send is sent without delay.
I've added no new software, changed nothing that should cause this and am
current with Microsoft Updates, etc. I'm not sure if this is an Outlook
issue or a problem with AOL and would appreciate any answers or suggestions.

You have no control once the mail is delivered to your SMTP server. The
delay is between the SMTP server that you use and the recipient's mail
server. Could be the recipient's mail server was down or unreachable and it
took a lot of retries by your sending mail server until it could connect to
the receiving mail server. Could be the recipient's mail server got it but
waited a long time before putting it into the recipient's mailbox.

The recipient can look at the Received headers to see when you passed the
mail off to your sending mail server, if there were any hosts between your
mail server and theirs, and when their mail server got the mail.
