I am getting the following error message when I try to acces my email.
Please advise. Thank you.

An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Server:
'pop.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error
Number: 0x80004005

In your browser go to http://mail.yahoo.com and log in to that account.
Then clean out all the folders in your webmail. If you want to save
any messages, create a new folder and move those messages to the
new folder. Empty the spam and thrash folders also. Close webmail,
then try Windows Mail again.

I tried your suggestion and then tried to send a test email. I then received
this error message: The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test',
Account: 'pop.att.yahoo.com', Server: 'smtp.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP,
Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E.

There are some emails that I received dulplicate times that say "message
can not be displayed". They will not delete from my in-box. I get the
message: Unknown error has occurred when I try. I tried backing up my
emails to a folder and deleting this account and then adding it back but that
did not seem to help either.

Please advise. Thank you!

Before, you were getting a receive error. This latest error is a send error.
Send errors and receive errors have different causes. You are using the wrong
outgoing port (25). Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties,
Advanced, then change port 25 to 465, and enable the SSL option.

Gary,

Thank you for your help. I was able to reset the port setting. I still
have the following issue that I mentioned previously: "There are some emails
that I received dulplicate times that say "message can not be displayed".
They will not delete from my in-box. I get themessage: Unknown error has
occurred when I try. I tried backing up myemails to a folder and deleting
this account and then adding it back but that did not seem to help either."

I would greatly appreciate your advice on this. Thank you!

Good to hear that your sending/receiving issues seem to be resolved.
As to the remaining problem, it sounds like your message store is partially
corrupted. Try running the database repair functions in the WMUtil program:
http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil

If still no improvement, upgrade to Windows Live Mail:
http://download.live.com/wlmail
It will automatically import all your Windows Mail data.

Gary, The database repair functions allowed me to delete the messages!
Thank you so much. I was having problems this morning with additional error
messages and duplicated emails but that seems to have been resolved with the
repair as well. I really appreciate your advice and patience with helping me
resolve these issues. This is a great service!
