Email Problem

Lance Cooper

After setting up my new computer with vista operating system and microsoft
mail, I was receiving emails in duplicates, but sending mail OK. I noticed 2
mail accounts; my email account plus mail.bellsouth.net which is my server
account, so I deleted the mail.bellsouth.net account. This solved the
receiving duplicates problem, but the computer would not connect to the
server for sending mail. I just tried replacing the mail.bellsouth.net
account and the wizard indicated that it was done successfully, but I now do
not receive or send mail, the authorisation process will not complete and a
security box pops up asking me to verify user and password and when I do so,
no success. I removed the just installed mail.bellsouth.net account and no
change. Need help, thanks.

If you are sure you are you are entering the correct username and
password, one possible cause for that error is account corruption.
One thing you should try as a quick fix is to delete that corrupted
mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that account.

If that doesn't fix it, more drastic measures will have to be taken.
Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

If turning off the email scanning function does not resolve your problem,
consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to
suffering bad effects from overly aggressive antivirus programs.

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
