Email on my PC magically changes to "read" when my Smartphonedownloads email

We using Outlook and Exchange Server for email. When an email arrives
in my Inbox it is bold because it's "unread".

Before I read it, it gets download to my Windows Mobile Smartphone -
which is not attached to my PC. It's simply using the Internet to
read POP3 mail from the same server and email account.

When an email is downloaded to my SmartPhone that same email on my PC
is flagged as "read" even though I haven't touched that email yet.

What do I do? I want emails on my PC that I have not yet read on my
PC to stay bold until I actually read them on my PC.

Thanks for replying!

The smart phone is working great. This seems to be a function of
Exchange or Outlook. When the Smart Phone downloads the message,
Exchange Server thinks the message is "read".

I want to disable this.

IIRC I've seen this issue before on a POP3 client email software (either
outlook or outlook express).

Test it yourself. Configure Outlook or Outlook Express to access POP3 mail
and leave messages on the server. It'll probably do the same thing... that
is: marking all new unread mail (bold) as Read (not bold) once they're
downloaded to client machine.

That's how it works - the device downloads the mail and the server marks it
read. The read mail is left on the server and outlook connects directly to
the server (rather than using POP3)
