email notification

I have a minor problem with MSN Messenger 6. When I sign in, it tells me I have 1 new
email message. I click on it and it opens a new Internet Explorer window and I check
my hotmail account. After I'm done and close out of that window, MSN Messenger still
tells me I have 1 new email message. I don't have any new email messages. I have to
sign out of MSN messenger and sign back in to correct the problem.

What's the problem? Do I need to re download MSN Messenger 6?

No, this is a server problem affecting some accounts, you'll just have to wait till it's
fixed.

Have the same problem, as of yesterday. I also have the new 6.1 messenger with the security update... Still no solution. Tried reconnecting, restarting, disconnecting from ISP and reconnecting to get a new IP- nothing. After I check the emails, it will say that i still have X new emails, and when I recieve new mail, it will not notify me

Also, I noticed that the above post is dated nearly a month ago..
