email has wrong date stamp

email is showing up with a date stamp of 1/1/2013 but the date and time is
correct,
any ideas?

For all mails or just this specific one?
A little more detail in your post would be nice.

Perhaps the sender is using a computer with the date/time out of
whack? You might want to alert them to this.

(Out of whack ... I know, very scientific.)

It seemed to be most but not all the mail for the last 3 days, all the sent
mail had the correct date but incoming had the wrong date, date on the
computer was correct along with time zone. today we tested incoming,
outgoing, internal, reply and outside world and all came in with the correct
date. Still not sure if all the email is coming in correctly now but will
keep checking throughout the day
