email from Microsoft

I get at least 20 emails per day supposedly from Microsoft
Security. The attachment has been deleted by Nortons so
it's ok. But when do I continue to get them?

It's not an e-mail from microsoft, it's a virus from some no good spamming
piece of !@#$

It's one of the worm viruses that's doing the rounds. Not sure if you can do
much. I have also received some of these Sucurity Updates but the virus is
picked up by NAV2002.

Wonder how long those things are going to go out. It's a
complete waste of time with my machine. The file doesn't
get through. But the number of emails per day are
irritating as heck.

Thanks everyone.

First of all remember this, Microsoft will NEVER send
anyone a security update via email, that is what Windows
Update is for. Secondly, all you can do and should do is
one report it if you can and then block the senders
address.

Norton can recognize a virus when it comes it, but it can't stop
it from being sent to you. Your address has been harvested from
other people's address books or by posting to newsgroups using
your real address. There's not much you can do, short of changing
your E-mail address.

You can use the filter capability of your E-mail software (if it
has this cpability) to delete the messages so you never see them,
or you can switch to an ISP that catches and filters these for
you. That's about it.

It;s actually an Email produced by the Swen virus,
unsuspecting users around the globe are sending out these
mails without knowing. It's the virus that changes the
FROM field so that it looks like it's coming from Bill.
There nothing you can do about it unless you set up a spam
filter (Which is a seperate art in itself). Sorry to
appear pessimistic but spam is eating the webs resources
like an electronic cancer, and unless something is done at
the ISP level, the internet will eventually eat itself.
