George's dilemma with email and outlook

I have had no luck connecting to my company's server. It will connect when I
am at the company office but not when I am at my house. I can get on the
internet no problem and the signal is excellent.

My IT guy says that Outlook is configured correctly and cannot answer why I
am having this problem.

After hitting send/receive the program attempts to connect to Microsoft
Exchange Server but comes back and tells me it cannot find server.

What to do?

Get a new IT guy who knows what he is doing... yours is obviously incompetent.

How are you trying to connect to your work Exchange server? Do you have the VPN client installed on your pc? Have you tried using https over rpc? When you try to connect, what is the exact error message you are getting? Post the exact error as the message contains the key to getting you connected.

And finally, what versions of Outlook/Exchange/Windows are you using?

Oh, and please reply to this thread and do not start a third one, okay?

Honestly, I think if your IT guy can't tell you why you can't connect to
Exchange over the Internet, we're going to be less able to.

But, how *should* you be able to connect? RPC over HTTP? Through a VPN?
Are other users able to use the Exchange server from off the corporate
network?
