Email about a virus

Jeff

I received an email from a friend on my contact list
stating that he had found a virus on his computer and it
could possibly be on mine, and that neither norton or
mcafee would detect it. The instructions were to enter
the letters "jdbgm" in the search wizard and then delete
the file that shows up with a little bear icon. I have
done a virus scan and it came back clean. If anyone could
provide me with some details as to if this is a scam or
not it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any help provided

Like 99% of the virus warnings you receive via E-mail, this one
is a hoax--in this case, a very old and well-known hoax.
jdbgmgr.exe is a real Windows file (although one that you don't
need unless you're a Java programmer).

A search for jdbgmgr.exe on http://www.symantec.com/search/ will
verify what I say.
