Eliminating Page Number from Last Page

I need to eliminate the page number from the last page (Page 8) as well as
the first page, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do this. I want
to have page numbers on Pages 2-7.

As you've probably already figured out, you omit the page number on the
first page by enabling "Different first page" and then leaving the First
Page Header/Footer empty. To omit it on the last page, instead of a simple
PAGE field, you need to insert this field:

{ IF { PAGE } < { NUMPAGES } { PAGE } }

You need to press Ctrl+F9 to insert the outside pair of field braces, within
which you will type the text (IF and <), but you can use the Insert Page
Number and Insert Number of Pages buttons on the Header and Footer toolbar
to insert the PAGE and NUMPAGES fields.

I realize this is going to seem stupid, but I'm fairly new to Word & I need
more "simple-minded" instructions. Can you give me step-by-step, using Word
2007? I seem unable to get to the right beginning point for inserting the
page field. Sorry to be so dense.

It always helps to mention what version you're using, especially when it's
2007. Double-click in the header or footer to insert the page number.
Although you *can* insert PAGE and NUMPAGES fields with buttons in 2007, it
will probably be easier to code them by hand. Each pair of field delimiters
(the things that look like braces but can't be typed from the keyboard) must
be inserted using Ctrl+F9.

Hi

Go to the bottom of the penultimate page of the document
Click on insert menu
Choose ‘break’
Choose ‘next page’

Now click on last page
Click on view menu
Choose Header and footer
Click on footer
Hover your curser over the menu bar.
Click on the 5th button from the right (link to previous) what looks like a
book. It should be active. Click on it to deactivate it. You can now enter or
delete whatever is in the last page footer

A section break is certainly one way to accomplish this, but often it is not
convenient to insert a break, especially a Next Page break.
