Messenger Service is totally unrelated to any instant messenger of
similar name. Messenger Service is a LAN tool that is typically not
required in a non-commercial environment.
To disable Messenger Service"
Start > Run type in services.msc and click OK.
Find Messenger in the list and double click on it.
Change Startup type to Disabled and click Apply.
Click on Stop and OK you way out.
Note: If you are getting Messenger Service popups, that would indicate
you have no Firewall or your firewall is misconfigured. You may want to
correct that situation, and other undersirables may also be getting
through.
