Electronic Arts Lord of the Rings

I have found that the Electronic Arts Lord of the Ring,
Return of the King game, that will not load onto my
computer (XP Professional 2002 with Service Pack 1), will
load (but not play unfortunately) onto my laptop (XP
Professional 2002 - but never got the Service Pack).

Am wondering if anyone else has this problem and if this
might be part of the problem.
