A neighbor of mine has a Dell Dimension 8200 computer with windows XP Prof
installed. Last week she changed the original name of a profile (has
administrative privileges) to a new one (control panel, User Accounts). It
appears that the computer is working okay. She asked me if there are any
negative aspects of changing the profile name. I really did not have an
answer for her and so I would appreciate it very much if someone could
provide an answer to her question. Thanks, Sam.
P.S This neighbor showed me how she changed the profile on her computer and
it appeared to be a normal function. However, I went home and tried to open
the User Accounts Icon on my computer and received the following error
message - "the filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is
incorrect" (my profile has administrative privileges). If anyone has a
solution to this problem, the information would also be very much
appreciated! I should note that I too have a Dell Dimension computer with
windows XP Prof installed and I have not changed names on any of the
profiles on the computer.
