EFFECT OF ICONS ON PERFORMANCE

I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE NUMBER OF DESKTOP ICON
SHORTCUTS EFFECT PROCESSOR SPEED/PERFORMANCE.

I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT ONLY THE
NUMBER OF TASKBAR ICONS, "RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND",
AFFECT SPEED/PERFORMANCE.

CAN ANYONE CLARIFY ?

Hey Eric,

I currently have 147 desktop icons, and I can't say as its affecting
anything, but why should it, desktop is only another folder !

Mininmized taskbar icons may or may not be using cpu, depends on what the
particular process is doing.

Run taskmanger and see if any process is using a lot of cpu.

You can get into task manager by

ctrl-alt-del

Or right click the taskbar and select taskmanager.

Select the process tab.

The affect that icons have on resources is so small it
would that a computer to analyze it!
