Editing notes in the Outline tab, Office 2003

Hi All,

I am wondering if it is possible to edit slide notes in the Outline tab in
Powerpoint? Being familiar with editing in outline mode in Word, I prefer
this view for building the slide content. If it is not possible, am I correct
in saying that the F6 shortcut is my best option to hop between the Outline
tab and the Notes region?

I actually prefer to edit in Word, but have not been able to find a way of
porting my slide content with notes from Word across to Powerpoint. The slide
text works well, it is very easy to quickly go from Word to a nicely
formatted set of slides. I've tried everything I can think of to get notes
type text across (using style names, putting notes as Word Comments...)

I'm a novice with Powerpoint, but would really appreciate better integration
between the notes and the slides. I imagine a note editing mechanism like
comments in Word, so you could associate blocks of note text to individual
slide points. Like Word, it could include 2 display modes, one with the Notes
(comment) beside the related text, the other with the notes collated down the
bottom of the screen.

thanks,
Phil

Since you can't see or edit notes in the Outline pane, I'd say F6 is your best
option (I'm assuming you'd prefer to use keystrokes rather than mousing when
possible).

You can also edit notes in Notes view, which shows you a better approximation of
how your notes will actually print.

It's a good idea to ask that kind of question here first, before you've given
your desk a head-lashing. ;-)

But you're right, there's no way to transfer text from Word into Notes text in
PPT. At least not out of the box. There's undoubtedly some way of doing it via
VBA/macros.

Thanks Steve,

Appreciate the reply, I'll try working in Notes view mode and see how that
feels.

Phil

PS - you're right on the money, i'm almost fanatical about working sans mouse
