Editing music for ppt 2003

This discussion group has been very helpful to me when it comes to creating
ppt presentations. I am working on something now that includes three pieces
of music. I have learned how to convert songs from a CD to wav files and
have embedded them into my presentation (thanks to reading your expert advice
to other members). I would like to take about 7 seconds out of the beginning
of one song. I know that I need to use an audio editing program and have
downloaded Audacity but all of those buttons and gadgets are overwhelming.
Is there some place where I might find a tutorial on audio editing for
dummies?

If you would like a simple way to do this, how about software you already
have? Windows Sound Recoder will allo you to trim a wav file without all
the fancy gizmos.

Thanks. I found an article on this board that talked about creating fades
with Sony Sound Forge. I read through it and it gave me enough background to
give editing a shot using audacity. I have successfully completed the
project. Can't thank you enough for the support and information found in the
ppt. discussion group.
