Editing a FP 2002 site in FP 98 ?

If I attempt to edit a site built in FP 2002 with FP 98 will it mess the site up - it's code, look, etc.
The reason I would want to do this is in case I can't get to the computer with FP 2002 on it.

That would depend if you used any features that 2002 supports that 98 might
not recognize.
You could set 98 to preserve existing html, but I can't say that would
guarantee anything.

I personally would not use FP 98, two generations back from 2002, as it
might "mess up" some changes or improvements that were made in 2002.
