edit the build in headers and footers

Is there a way to edit the build in headers and footers in MS Excel?

I want to creat my own built in header and footer that will be available in
every workbook.

You can set up a default template for all new workbooks.
Set the book up as you require with formatting etc. including an
Header & Footer you want as default.
Save the book in your startup directory, usually ...\Office\XLStart\
as Book.xlt.
You can aslo save a single sheet book as Sheet.xlt, which will becom
the default for any new sheets you insert into any workbook

I teach at a community college, and I ask my students to include the same header and footer on all spreadsheets. I understand we could do a template with our header/footer in it for new workbooks; however, they have data files which come with their textbook, and then need to add their header/footer to. Is there a way to have their header/footer in the list of choices (in the header or footer) so they can just select it rather than having to type it each time?
