Edit paste special macro

I am using Powerpoint 97
I'm trying to record a macro in powerpoint to paste text
as unformatted text.
I copy my text then click on wherever I want it to appear,
then click on record macro, name it and then I click on
edit, paste special, paste as unformatted text and then
okay it.

The problem is that when I run the macro nothing happens.
I looked in the VB editor and it looks as though nothing
has been recorded it just has the usual sub and end sub.

Does any one know why my actions are not being recorded?

It's a good idea, I've tried it and it didn't work for me either, and any
other Macro I creates involving pasting text, I got an error message.
I use that function a lot and have just gotten very used to quick short cut
keys of: Alt, E> S> U> Enter.
....if you figure it out, let me (us) know.
