easy transfer cable driver issue

I surrender!! I can not get the easy transfer cable to install on my old
computer (xp with service pack2). After installing from cd and restarting
computer, I plug in the cable and I get a "error installing hardware. Acess
denied". When I check the device manager folder, the cable is listed as
having no driver and I am instructed to reinstall driver. I downloaded the
updated install from Belkin but that doesn't work either. I have disabled my
firewall, turned off all spyware and security programs, disabled the network
connection(someone told me that it might cause a conflict),downloaded the
Easy transfer program that is found on Vista. Basically I have done
everything that I can think of. I am at a loss.....Please help if anyone
else has this problem

Michael,
Thanks for the reply. I've checked the Belkin site and they have an update
that I have already tried. Any other suggestions?

Over on the left of the Belkin support page there are "Contact Us" links.

You can contact Belkin by phone or email. I suggest by phone:

You need technical support. Have them talk you through it.

For instance, if you live in the USA, call 1 800 2BELKIN,
which is given as the number for that country for telephone support.

The original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of your new computer
probably has a number you can call for technical support. If no one
can help you to get Microsoft's easy transfer software to work, then
either set things up manually, or buy different software:
