Easy question

I am using Access 2007, and I am fairly new to Access. The question I have is
this: I have created a form by selecting the table and then "create" then
"form." It automatically created my form. But I want to move the fields
around. Is there an easy way to move these fields around or do I have to play
with each individual field and set up the width, height etc... for each box?
If there is an easy way to set the fields side by side (so it looks like 2
columns instead of one big one) that would be great!

New to Access? Don't look for too many shortcuts too quickly. Doing things
the slow way will famaliarize you with the features and then you will be
able to control the wizards better

You can select several controls (boxes) at once and set width, height, font
etc for the group.

Sometime it is easier to creat the form from scratch and put things where
you want them than try to tweek a form created by the wizard

In access 2007 when you create a form in this manner, you will find that all
the fields on the form are linked together and move as one unify Group.

if you want to move fields around individually on the form, or did add to
the design, or change of design, or remove fields from the form, you are
most certainly able to do that.

In other words even us very experienced developers will often create a form
from scratch using the built in wizards just like you did.

To move individual fields around, open up the form in design mode, and
simply click on any field on the form (not wanting to split hairs, actually
the term is we don't place fields on a form, we place text boxes on a form,
and they allow you to edit data and those text boxes are bound to an
underlying field from the table). so realistically we should call these
things on a form text boxes, not fields.

To move Individual text boxes around on the form you have to un-Group all of
the text boxes.

Just simply open up the form in design mode, then click on any one of the
text boxes. at this point you should notice that the outline of the text box
will turn orange. If you look in the upper left corner of the form at least
to the upper left of the text boxes, you'll see a little cross hairs appear
(looks like a + sign). Simple click on that + sign. At this point all of
those text boxes that are grouped together will now all highlight as orange.
Now in the ribbon, click on the arrange tab, and then choose about the 4
option from the left - "remove". (you want to remove the layout group -
doing so well our you to move individual text boxes around separately).

What the above does is remove the control layout, and at that point you can
now individually arrange and moved into those text boxes and resize them
separately as you please. You can also add additional fields to the table,
and then bring up the form in design mode again, and therefore add
additional text boxes that will be based on these new fields you added.

therefore you learn to build how to modify these layouts who after you've
created a form or report
