e-mails sent but not received

I am using Outlook 2007 with McAfee internet protection.

I have been informed that some of the e-mails i am sending are not reaching
their destination.
If i send new e-mails with just text i have no problems.
If i reply or forward e-mails with with logos or pictures in, they appear to
send OK but do not arrive at there destination.
I have tested this quite extensively between my work & home machine but am
unable to solve the mystery.
These "lost" e-mails are not sent back to me so i have no idea where they
end up.

Any one got any idears how to solve this problem?.

Do the messages move from Outbox to Sent Items?

Yes they do.
They never get returned as unsent.
The odd thing is only the plain text messages seem to get through to the
recipient.
I am sending in HTML & using word as my mail editor.

The first thing I'd do is to uninstall McAfee and reinstall without any mail
integration features.

If messages move to the Sent Items folder, then Outlook is out of the
picture. The server has accepted the message and Outlook's job is finished.
If a message isn't being delivered, then it's the server's problem.

This seems like quite a big step and i would be concerened regarding
receiving viruses in my e-mail.

There are integration issues between Outlook and a lot of AV programs. The
AV programs often don't integrate properly.

Hardly. As long as you run the AV program's on-access or real-time scanner
(VirusShield, in McAfee's case), you are just as protected. Moreover, you
are blessed with a brain. It's a simple matter to always DELETE any message
with an attachment you weren't expecting (no matter who apparently sent it)
and to SAVE WITHOUT OPENING any attachment you were expecting so that the AV
program has a chance to process it before you try to open it.
