I no longer can send an e-mail. I keep getting an error message. I tried
sending it in Windows mail and in outlook. I get the following error message:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Perils of a Catholic
Upbringing ... !!', Account: 'pop.west.cox.net', Server: 'smtp.west.cox.net',
Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number:
0x800CCC0E

This just started. Is it a problem with Microsoft or me. I am able to send
messages from MSN.

Are you sending from your home Cox connection, or are you using a
laptop away from home?

MSN is webmail, so it doesn't use the SMTP protocol.
