E-mail sent from Lotus Notes - signature appears as an attachment

I have a collegue using outlook and I am using Lotus notes 6.5.3

I have an image file that contains my signature details this is added
automatcially to the end of my e-mail and displays as a proper signature
(name, job title, extn etc)

When he recvies my e-mails all he can see is an attachment on the e-mail, to
view the signature he has to open the attachment.

Why is this, does this mean that all e-mails I send to any user on Outlook
will see the same? If so what should I do?
