E-mail hosting & A records

Hello:

I am going to use a 3rd party company to receive my e-mail and do initial
SPAM filtering. The company said just to set my MX records to there mail
servers. I did it and tested and e-mail is working fine. Just to make sure
everything was fine I ran a DNSREPORT against the domain. It is giving me a
error for my MX records on the A record. I tried to create zone for this on
my DNS server but it didn't work.

Does anyone have any ideas...

Failed Mailserver greeting The server should have an A record which
points to the mailserver for the hostname
which is presented in the greeting

It's talking about the SMTP greeting. Changing it depends on what type of
email server you are using.

Oops, sorry, I hit send too soon.

This is a tough one because the zone pphosted.com belongs to the hosting
company. When I checked your MX DNS records, assuming aviinc.com is your
domain name, I got this:
Non-authoritative answer:
aviinc.com MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = satchmo.aviinc.com
aviinc.com MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = blood.aviinc.com
aviinc.com MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = sinatra.aviinc.com

satchmo.aviinc.com internet address = 66.193.165.16
blood.aviinc.com internet address = 66.193.165.13
sinatra.aviinc.com internet address = 66.193.165.15
Now this doesn't make sense to me because you said you pointed your MX
records to their server. I assume you did that under the public DNS zone
records and not your internal DNS? If on the internal DNS, I can understand
why the results came up this way.

If you weren't using a hosting service, I would suggest to change the above
so it only points to say only sinatra.aviinc.com, but create sinatra under
'aviinc.com' 3 times one for each of the 3 separate IP addresses.

But you are using a hosting service, so you have to point it to their
machines. To alleviate the DNS error you are seeing, simply create an MX
record under your public zone record for each of the following:
mx.aviinc.com.pph4a.pphosted.com
mx.aviinc.com.pph5a.pphosted.COM
mx.aviinc.com.pph4b.pphosted.COM
mx.aviinc.com.pph5b.pphosted.COM
