E-mail address font color

Word has a weird way of auto formatting any long word with a @ sign
imbedded. It treats them as a purveyable e-mail address, formulates a
link, and then worst of all designates a very odd color and even a
special font style to that e-mail address. I do NOT like this because it
makes that e-mail address always print in a weird color, and any color
for that matter I do NOT want because it may not FAX well (blues) and
other problems as well.

So HOW do I either shut this feature OFF or at least change the font to
a very deep color (brown, dark magenta or dark blue for instance)?

I have looked all over the options and customizings and CANNOT find a
handle for it.

There's nothing wierd about it. Turn it off from tools > autocorrect options
autoformat as you type > repl;ace internet and network paths with
hyperlinks. If you want to retain the hyperlink, then you can modify the
colour of the hyperlink style through the format styles dialog.
