Hi
I was wondering what would be the result of using dye ink in a
Canon ip4200 Black : PGI-5BK cart?

I'll be corrected if wrong but I think the pigment ink is used in
quicker drying circumstances, such as plain text. I am also uncertain
if the head for the pigment ink is larger than the other heads

I believe that the nozzles that deliver ink from the PGI-5bk cart are 5
picoliters in size. They won't be harmed by dye-based ink, but there is a
tendancy on plain paper for the ink to sink into the fibers of the paper and
spread the image as it does so. The PGI-5bk pigment-based ink is designed
for printing text on plain paper and does a much better job with crisp text
and better water resistance. If you are refilling you might as well refill
the cart with the ink for which it was intended. If it costs a bit more,
you will still be saving tons of money over OEM ink.

Dye ink dries faster than pigmented ink.

Assuming the inks didn't interact and cause a clog or clot to be
produced, the main difference is probably the print quality of black
text on plain paper.

Thanks for your replies
I don't intend to use dye ink in the pigmented cart
I was just curious as to what effect it would have
