DVDs

I have created movies from my digital camera through Windows Movie Maker, and
turned into a movie.

I then burn it onto DVD using NeroVision with various chapters etc.

PROBLEM - sometimes the DVD plays on the DVD player through the television
all the way through and then another time it just stops and pauses. I figure
if there was anything wrong with the disc itself then it would not work on
the computer / laptop.

Have gone through many DVD discs re-burning etc and still having problems.
Have a brand new DVD player and still this occurs.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Lisa
My first thought/suggestion would be to burn at a slower speed (4x instead
of 8x probably).
DVD players are more sensitive and can't recover from disc errors as easily
as computer DVD drives can so they are less likely to cause a problem in the
DVD drives.

Thanks Wojo

I burning these at 4x speed as I had 4x speed DVD's to copy on.

If I tried burning the movies again at 2x speed, do you think this may solve
the problem?

I burn them overnight as it takes a long time and it doesn't tie the
computer up for other household members.

Thanks in anticipation of any other further advise.

What DVD's are you using? I find that DVD+ discs are better than DVD- discs.

It very well could solve the problem yes.
One other point to make if you let it go overnight is to make sure your
screen saver is shut off so it doesn't come on and waste system resources.
Also if you have Windows Update set to automatic updates disable that as
well.

Really?
That's interesting I've never had a difference in quality with either. I
mostly use +R but I use -R when I am burning a DVD for my parents as they
have an older DVD player that sometimes has issues with my +R discs.
What happens in your case that you feel +R are better than -R?

I find that DVD- discs tend to get choppy towards the end of a movie, where
as the DVD+ ones don't as much. (not talking home made movies here). Not my
experience of course! ;-) A friend told me.
