DVDRW/CDRW sony drive do not work

I buy a brand new sony vaio notebook grv-680 with a dvdrw
(dw-u50a), with XP HOME OS. The DVDRW drive appear on
explorer window, no errors on device manager, but when I
put a CD or DVD, don't show nothing , no error message.
Anyone can help?
