DVD writing Problems in XP

Help Folks!!!

I have a new NEC DVD +R & -R drive. I am using Nero 6. When I write a data
DVD-R all seems to go well but when the burn is finished, the Disc is not
readable in the drive. I am using a brand of disc recommended by NEC. I
haven't tried a +R disc yet.

The other problem is that using a DVD+ Rewritable the drive tends to stop
writing at about 2GB. Am I doing something wrong in Nero.

The really strange thing is that if I copy a DVD using X Copy the drive
makes a perfect copy which plays perfectly in my domestic DVD Player.

Any help gratefully received, I've already ruined a fortune in DVD blanks
!!!
