DVD Re-Writer drvie

I purchased an LG GSA4163 DVD re-writer from Ebuyer.com, i thought i was
purchasing the retail box, but it was just the drive its self, with no
install disk or anything along those lines, I managed to intall the drive as
the master drive, its fine reading disks, and copying from disks, however it
will not copy anything to disks, DVD writable disks, or CD writable disks, it
will not write. Are there certain drivers which i need to install and if so
does anyone know where i can get them.

You will need to purchase a burning program that will write CD's and
DVD's. XP's built-in burning program will do CD's but not DVD's. How
have you tried to burn a CD? Open XP's Help & Support and use the
search term, "cd burning" to see how to do it natively. Roxio and Nero
both make programs that will burn DVD's and CD's.

You need software like Nero or whatever to burn cd's - and similarly to burn
dvd's I expect - If you're using XP - does the cd-burning utility work?

did you enable cd burning on the drive?
right click, properties, writing tab, enable cd burning/writing on this
drive....a little rusty about the tabs, etc

The inbuilt burning *may* not work with that specific drive, and in any
case does not handle DVD. You probably need a third party burning
package, like say Nero Express

DVD writers usually have firmware updates for them. Sometimes the
units require these flash code updates to support newer media or to
correct issues. On both my Plextor and Sony external I've applied at
least 4-5 firmware updates to them. Similar to BIOS flash routines,
except most DVD/CD updates are done by a program from within
XP itself.
I just checked and the LG site is offline at the moment, but you might
check this URL and see if any updates are posted for your unit.
