DVD Player for Vista - Is there one ?

Mike

I've installed Vista on a laptop but cannot find a DVD player that will
play commercial DVD's. Is there any that will work on Vista ?
I'm using the 32 bit version but will also install the 64 bit on another
PC so the same question for that. It just seems weird that Media Player
wont play my media. (Dido at Brixton DVD)

Hey Mike,
Either update the Codex for WMP11 or try Power DVD or Nero. The ultra Nero
suite works fine on mine.

I cannot get the nero demo to install on mine. It extracts the files, I go
to setup but it doesn't run. Any ideas?

Hi Beck,

Right click setup, use the option to run as administrator.

That doesn't work either. If I click on installer it starts the setup and
then says nero must be installed with setupx msi starter. If I click on the
msi starter nothing happens.

It is funny you should say Nero 7 works on your system. I just tried to
install the latest release and got a message specifically stating it would
not work with Vista.

Media Player played DVDs on my system from the first install of Vista.
Did not install any extra software or drivers for it unless Vista
detected I had a DVD drive and did it itself.

Did you try the Dvd player that is built into Media Center?
No, did not know there was one, I've not tried MC yet.

Tried Nero 7, the released V7 and the latest release but it will not
install.

I'll try Media Centre and then PowerDVD.

Thanks for the assistance
