I'd already tried the little speaker icon in the lower right-hand corner
of
the screen and the volume controls within Media Player.
I went to Control Panel-Sound -Playback - Properties - Levels - Internal
Speaker Headphone - CD Audio (DVD not mentioned) I turned the volume at CD
to
loudest. Still can't hear anything.
The computer is supposed to play DVDs, so I looked at another tab:
Internal Speaker/Head[hone Properties said -channel, 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD
quality) So I guess this means that it does indeed play DVDs.
Is there anyplace else to look for a volume control?
Thank you.

In the sound/volume control, there is a separate control for CD/DVD
sound.
Double click the sound/volume icon and move the slider for the CD/DVD up
to
a reasonable level.

I have a Compaq Presario. When I tried to play a commercial DVD, I got a
good
picture but no sound at all. There is a sound card. When I play the
music
that came with Vista, the sound is fine. What do I have to do to hear
as
well
as see my DVD?
Thank you.
