DVD Decoder

We installed Win XP Pro to replace Win ME. When we tried
to play a DVD an error messaged popped up saying "Windows
Media Player cannot play this DVD because a compatible DVD
Decoder is not installed on your computer." We were given
your website to acquire a decoder or at least
information. Computer is an HP Pavilion 9800 with an
Intel Pentium 4 Processor. The processor size we are
unsure of.

Unlike cds,dvds require special software windows media
home pages has software but youll probably only find
them in the 3rd party list.I take it hp "dumped" you
off to microsoft without giving any help.
