Hello folks,
I have spent the better part of a day with Win Xp Pro,
Dell Inspiron 8100, fully patched, trying to watch a
DVD...
Long story short, I installed Office 2004, then my
Windows Media Player version 8 started cropping all DVD
and MPEG playback.
Thinking, maybe it is time to upgrade, I downloaded
Windows Media Player 9 -- cropping still there.
Tried to update the DVD driver, no joy with LG DVD-ROM
DRN8080B updates.
Purchased Intervideo Xpack for DVD playback, still had
cropping.
Tried this KB, thinking there was a decoder issue still
(How to troubleshoot playback in Windows Media Player 9),
figured out that I have two decoders loaded:
- ivimci.drv (from MCI? Company Name:"")
- ivivideo.ax (from the Intervideo app)
Now, I have DVD play back, but the Windows Media Player 9
and the Intervideo Xpack for DVD playback both freeze the
CPU when you try to change any setting, or navigate to a
menu.
Any help to remove "ivimci.drv"? I can't find it
anywhere on the box...
Stumped and tried and appreciative of any help,
Chris
