dvd burning

New to the game of movie making... was wondering if, when the movie is made
via movie maker and exported with the quality for a dvd, when you go to the
dvd burning software do you make the chapters then? or are the chapters
previously made in movie maker, aka clips?

I guess that all depends on the authoring software you have. I am using MyDVD
v4.5 which doesn't make chapters. But I make smaller movies in MM and import
them separately and they basically become chapters themselves.

If by clips you mean the clips that the wizard creates in MM after import, I
don't think they become chapters in authoring software. If you have newer
software, you most likely just choose where you want chapters to be.

I also have MyDVD and I burn a DVD. It plays on my computer but not play on
either one of my dvd players.

As the others said it depends on the software but the only software I have
seen that doesn't make chapter points, and it's one of the biggest reasons I
don't recommend it, is Sonic's MyDVD.
I have tried many if not all the more popular DVD authoring programs and
have actually purchased many of them as well and they all, with this one
exception, can create chapter points for you.
I put together a list of the most popular programs with links to download
sites on my website in the "DVD Programs" section. They all offer free
trials with the exception of Nero who doesn't allow access to NVE (the DVD
Authoring program for NERO) with their trial download.
