DVD authoring

Please forgive if this is the not right place but I have looked all over. I
am unable to add files to ANY DVD authoring program. I have the NERO bundle
which came with My Sony DRU-810-A DVD recorder as well as having tried other
numerous free and demo authoring programs. As soon as I try to add small
files to the program, I get unable to read at memory address errors. I could
post the exact errors but the message changes as far as the numbers go. I
have even switched RAM and still get the same type group of messages.
My system :
W2K with all updates
512 PC133 RAM
Asus Tusl2-C Mobo
P3 800 megahertz Celeron

Any and all help and suggestions are greatly appreciated as usual....

Update on my problem.
I ran diagnostic on my hdd and it reported no problems so I did a low level
format anyway and reinstalled W2K.
Boom. I can record DVD's now.
