DVD and CD be formatable?

Hi:
I have several 'half-used' DVD and CD-R/RW on the desk.

I hate to waste those, but on the hand, I have no clue whether
I can 'format' or 'reformat' to get them usable.

If possible, how to 'format' or 'reformat'
half-used DVDs and CD-Rs/RWs?

Your CD authoring software should give you the option of erasing the disks.

DVD Rs and CD R -- forget about re-format. These are write once media and you
may not be allowed to re-use them if they were "finalized."

DVD RWs and CD RWs -- As previous answered, you need to check in the CD/DVD
authoring application for the method of "erasing" or "formatting" them.
