Duplicate user being auto created with C drive name as .extension

I have created 3 users on my home computer and they have
worked fine until recently. Now, when one of the users
logs in it creates a new entry in "c:\documents and
settings" yet not another user in the "Users and
Passwords". The original folder is "c:\documents and
settings\ellen" and the new folder is "c:\documents and
settings\ellen.MAXTOR40". "MAXTOR4O" is my C drive
label. The only thing I have done lately is run WebRoot
SpySweeper.

Sounds like the drive permissions were altered.
