Duplicate folder

A user brought their XP Home computer for me to look at.
Each profile has their "My Documents" folder that is
populated with files they created.

The problem is that their is a Duplicate version of the
My Documents folder. So when they look at the C drive
they have the standard directories including the
duplicate folders: "Vern's Documents" "Michael's
Documents." If I delete or add a folder from the
duplicates, the same action occurs in their actual "My
Documents Folder" (i.e. if I add a folder to "Vern's
Documents" it appears in the C:\Docs and Settings\Vern\My
Documents) It is as if it is being mirrored.

The problem is that the user gets confused by seeing both
versions.

These are not duplicates.

The actual folders and files are located within each user's Document and
Settins folders.

When a user is logged on, "My Documents" will show the contents of that of
that folder. In other words, it is a system shortcut to that folder and not
a duplicate folder.

These are not duplicates, they are shortcuts to the actual My Documents
folder, created I suppose for convenience depending upon where a user
happens to be on their setup.

They cannot be deleted, my suggestion would be to simply inform the users
these are shortcuts to their actual My Documents folder under their user
name or to whatever location they've designated for My Documents if they
decided to move the folder.
