Duplicate emails appear then disappear repeatedly

This is what happens:
1. Outlook goes to check for new emails on the Exchange
Server.
2. A duplicate of all emails in the inbox appear on my
computer
3. When the process if finished all the duplicates
disappear and I am left with only 1 copy of all emails in
my inbox

This happens again and again every time my outlook checks
for new emails.

I need help to find out what is wrong and how to fix it.

The first thing I would try is to:

Close Outlook.
Search the hard drive for all OST files (*.ost)
(Be sure to search for hidden files if you need to)
Delete them from the Find window
Reopen Outlook (It will build a new ost if there were any)
