What is the easiest way to duplicate a hard drive?

The duplicate won't be exactly the same size, but I want it to boot the
same and have the same filesystem.

The HDD manufacturers website.Download thier software.Most have this option
on the install cd that came with your new HDD.

Two programs that can do that for you easily are

Acronis True Image

Ghost

Additionally the manufacturer of your new hard drive may have a utility
available online to download and use to clone your previous drive to the new
one.

Gost 2003,used it for a friend, to go from
a small disk c to a larger one.
Do not check the copy under XP,because it will
change the drive letter, and make it un bootable.
Just replace c after copy,and you are ready.
I also use it to make backup copys on a removable
200G harddisk.
