dumb question about installation

does anyone know if i can install windows XP on more than
one PC, if i have the home edition upgrade?

i already have it loaded on my laptop, and would like to
load it onto my desktop as well... are there any
restrictions on this? will it screw up my first
installation?

if anyone has any thoughts, i'd really appreciate them.
thx.

You can load xp on any machine, public, private, etc.but
xp needs to obtain a license to operate, when it tries to
on the other machines it will know its not the original
machine the license was issued for.1 machine,1 license,
it gives you 30 days, then os start to fail, you need to
purchase another copy of xp.

One licensed copy of Windows to each machine. You can buy
just licenses and use the same CD you have, but it may be
just easier to buy the whole package on-line at discounted
prices.

You can get Windows Updates without activating XP and you
can activate more than one product key (license number).

You can install Office on one desktop and one laptop
computer at same time, but Windows operating system is and
always has been licensed to one computer.

A lot of people do know, and no, you may not. Windows has, for more
than 10 years been supplied as a license to use one copy on one machine
and no more (Only Office allows a desktop plus laptop). Hence the
activation system, to stop you installing on every machine in sight
